Locally Made Products to celebrate the Earth

It’s important to live sustainably not only on Earth Day, but everyday. When you focus on living sustainably, you focus on minimizing use of resources, reducing overall waste, recycling when possible, using less plastic, walking or biking instead of driving a car, and choosing energy efficient products as often as possible. Not only does it better our planet in the long term, but it is also something you can feel good about, making our earth a better place for generations to come. What are some habits you have developed to help work toward living sustainably? Which ones are you looking to incorporate into your everyday life?

In honor of Earth Day, we have compiled a list of our favorite sustainable products for you to check out. Which one will be your new favorite?

Instead of using several single use maps, try this map of Pine Creek by Purple Lizard Maps. These extremely durable, and highly detailed outdoor recreation maps are perfect for any outdoor enthusiast for their outdoor adventures. These maps are waterproof, making them last way longer than a map printed on standard printing paper. Reduce the waste of single use paper by picking up one of these for your next adventure, you won’t be disappointed, or lost!

While we are on the topic of reducing single use items, check out this Sunflower mug by Jillia Ceramics. Reduce the amount of single use cups you use by taking this mug with you for all your drink needs. It can hold both hot and cold drinks, and holds about 16 oz of fluid. It can also be used in the microwave, in case your morning coffee gets cold and needs a reheat. Whichever your beverage of choice, this mug is perfect, and sustainable.

When it comes to sustainability, this product really takes the cake. Reduce the amount of flimsy grocery store plastic bags you gain every trip to the store, and purchase this super sturdy adventure tote by Organic Climbing and Ellen Paquette, as part of the Collaborative Series, a project that paired PA Wilds Professional Juried Artists with PA Wilds-based manufacturers to create branded products unique to the PA Wilds. The patch pocket features artwork of an Eastern Hellbender (Pennsylvania's state amphibian) by Ellen Paquette of Warren, PA.

Not only is it adorable, but it is super sturdy for those trips to the store, when you’re getting more than your arms can carry. This bag is also made with recycled polyester, adding another level of sustainability. This bag will make grocery store bags, the ones that get a hole after not even one use, a thing of the past.
