26” wide by 48” long. Shades of Blue Clasped Weft Rag Rug -
Warp threads form the base of these rugs and the rags form the weft. Color arrangement of both warp and weft create unique designs. The clasped weft technique creates a double thickness rug as the weft travels under and over the warp threads with a separate weft coming from the other side. Where they meet they are crossed and then return to the side of the rug the weft originated from. This rug was designed with 3 large triangles formed by the positioning of where the warp fabric intersected. Woven on white, blue and black cotton warp.
Recycled cotton and cotton blends
Machine washable, hang to dry.
Rugs are handwoven on my four-harness LeClerc floor loom using reclaimed household textiles,
denim, shirts, bedding, T-shirts etc. giving old fabrics a new life.
Each rug is a unique piece of repurposed useful art - blending colors and textures to create beautiful, durable long-lasting rugs
No two rugs are identical - every one is created with fabrics available at the time.
Making a choice to purchase recycled textile products, you help reduce waste and support craftsmanship over mass production.
